Continental Grain Company

Continental Grain Company (CGC) was established in 1813 as a grain trading firm based in Arlon, Belgium, and grew to become one of the largest privately held companies in the world.

Drawing on nearly two centuries of innovation and achievement, CGC brings together very successful and experienced agribusinesses. CGC owns Wayne Farms LLC, the fifth largest integrated poultry company in the USA. CGC is also a major shareholder in Smithfield Foods, Inc., the largest producer of hogs in the USA. In addition, CGC, through its Five Rivers Ranch Cattle Feeding LLC joint venture with Smithfield Foods, is the world's largest cattle feeder. Overseas, CGC has operations in several countries worldwide through various subsidiaries and joint ventures.

In 2008, CGC announced the formation of Arlon Group LLC, a private investment group that invests CGC's permanent capital across multiple strategies to create long-term value.
